Looks like there is some issue with the polling software. If there are two anonymous votes from the same IP, looks like the latest vote over-rides the previous one, even if they are from different users. I'm sorry I do not quite get you. Do you mean to say that you never eat anything until dinner? Or do you follow a different diet where your breakfast and lunch consist of some special kinds of food?
Are you overweight? Skipping breakfast is never a good idea, generally speaking.

I'd advise you to not set any weight-loss goals. Weight loss only for the sake of losing weight could be harmful, since you might be tempted to try ways which could harm your body.
Depending on your body's constitution, following this diet should help you reduce "unhealthy" weight. Losing weight due to accumulated junk in your digestive system is the first thing to happen. Fat loss generally takes some time to happen. Everyone responds to this diet in his/her own unique way. Please do not follow the diet with your own modification, unless you are sure of what you will be doing.

but i have that goal set as i have a med check in which i can be declared unfit if i am over weight. if i can loose atleast 5 kgs, in next 10 days then i am ok for that.
i have already lost 6 kgs over last 4 months by carefull eating, and bit of exersising, but could not reach my goal. of 71 kgs. now its do or die.

I am on my 4th day of the plan and I can feel the difference. if the plan works out then I will try it again as I need to lose about 6kgs before my wedding next month.I have few questions and I will appreciate if someone can answer them for me

1. in the wonder soup can we add carrots or spinach instead of celery and cabbage.
(Celery makes my stomach bloat and I don't like cabbage)

2. during the vegetables day are we allowed to add garlic and ginger to cooked vegetables.

3. I am confused about measurement of 1 Cup of rice, is this to be done before cooking or after cooking.

Hi. Maybe, others can chip in with their inputs, but here are my answers

  • You may try spinach, but I'd suggest that you stick to cabbage.
  • Garlic and ginger can be added to the prepared vegetables without any harm.
  • Since the quantity of rice isn't clarified exactly in the original diet, I suggest you use your discretion. 1 cup of uncooked rice would be generally excessive even in normal times. You might want to take the middle path and cook half a cup of rice (measuring uncooked rice.)

It would be really nice of you if you can write in more details after the diet ends on your overall experience, and if possible, a week after that too! Thanks.

I am 29 , my weight is 58 kgs height is 5'4.
This is second time when am doing this , trying to do perfectly as given on the site. First time when I did it I didn't stop taking tea two times a day and I did put some hot tomato sos in my boiled vegetables but still I lost 3 kgs.

I would have lost more than that if had done properly, now this time I am not taking any tea or salt- sugar. so lets see how much i lose this time. today is my third day.

The loss of weight is mostly due to loss of fat and cleansing of the digestive system. I'm not sure what you mean by body fluid loss.

I just finished the 1st day of the diet. It was easy at the start till it came to the evening OH the pain of the headache, and the fruits for dinner. EW.. i think day two will be easy as i get to eat veges and a potato for breakfast but thursday i reckon will be hard as its day 4 and its christmas and its only bananas and milk..

Keep going. Even the plain veggies and potatoes taste like a treat while you are following this diet. And at the end of it, you feel great - weight loss or no loss!
On a side note - more people seem to lose weight that not, if you look at the general trend of this poll.

I know what you mean...I had terrible headache on my 1st day too, it's probably because the body is missing caffine,keep going...4th day is the easiest as you will not feel hungry or tempted to eat,your system will be already set for weight loss.

This diet plan is really useful, I lost 4.2 kgs last week.I'm repeating the process again...xmas day is my fruit and veg day, the incentive for me to be good is another reduction of 4-5 kgs by end of 2nd repition.

Trust me it works,my cousin lost 8 kgs in 2 weeks

Today is my 4th day of this Diet Plan. i wanted to ask, whether salt can be added to the cooked vegetables since i feel a bit unhealthy without having sugar since last 4 days. Actually, m following this plan once again. Last time when i did it, i did quit on 5th day for some reasons. n i lost 2.5 Kgs.
SO could u reply me should i add salt or not?

No, PLEASE DO NOT!
Anything unnatural and extreme is bad. This diet is unnatural (does NOT mean bad - in plain terms, means something you do not follow in the normal course of your life). Combine that with the extremeness you are suggesting, and it sure is a recipe for disaster!
Do not follow this diet for more than a week at a stretch. And as suggested in the diet, have an appropriate gap between multiple runs.

What i was thinking is this:
Week 1: GM diet
Week 2: Normal BALANCED diet [no fries, no burgers etc..]. A normal diet followed by weight-watchers to consume about 1500 cals for a target of about 2 lbs loss in a week.
Week 3: Gm diet again
Week 4: Normal BALANCED diet again.

This way, for about 3-4 months until i achieve my target.
Should this be followed?

Also, I will TRY to be regular at gym for about 30 mins of mild exercise daily.

Now, we are moving into the realm of something personalized. The path you should be following will depend very much on your body's constitution. Not everyone reacts in exactly the same manner to the same stimulus.
Excessive weight can manifest itself in multiple ways. From fat in the belly region, to hips and possibly distributed all over the body too. So, depending on your constitution, your approach will have to vary. I would suggest you do this diet twice and observe the rate of weight loss. If the second time round you do not lose as much weight as you expect, following this diet further will not help you from a health loss perspective. I have a few things to suggest on the side-lines though:

  • Eat one guava after each meal - Not guava juice, but real fruit. Try to eat guava which is more raw than ripe.
  • Use Triphala - daily before retiring to bed (and atleast 2 hours after dinner) with a glass of water. Try this for a few days, while NOT on the GM diet.
  • Follow the maxim - Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper. Try to have your dinner by 7 pm.

Do the above in conjunction with any diet program you create for yourself. It will be of great support. Of course, goes without saying that you should eat  a lot of fibrous food.

Today is my 3rd day, compare to first 2 days , it seems easier. I chose this week when my all buddies are coming back from Inidia with lot of sweets and when eveyrboyd is throwing chirstmas and 31st party.

Yeah... and today is my 4th day.. I am feeling so good about myself.. Intially I was not sure .. but Now I am very much confident that i will finish this diet properly. Bi the way.. on day 4 , we can eat 8 banana and 3 glass of fat free milk, but I dont feel to eat this much... I am eating just 4 banan and 1 glass of milk.

Maybe, no one visiting this site has a good answer on this one! I personally do not know of any equivalent replacement for potato - especially being carbohydrates and nothing much else...

This is my first day of the diet and I was wondering if you could only drink water for the entire week. I have a special tea that I drink that also helps rid your body of toxins and cleans it out. I don't put any sugar or milk in it. Would it be okay to drink? or should I wait until after the diet to get back on my tea?

If you can't live without your special tea, sure, go ahead and drink. Leaving out milk and sugar ensures that this drink doesn't go against the basic principles of this diet. Of course, assuming that your tea is a natural/herbal one.

If you plan to live entirely on water, then it wouldn't be GM diet any more! Please be careful and do not take make any extreme modifications unless you are sure of what you are doing!

Interesting to read some responses there though about the benefits some people had after following this diet. Make your own conclusions. Hoax or no hoax, this diet doesn't ask you to buy/try/donate anything - nor does it ask you to eat some obscure herb. To the Doubting Thomases, I'd urge to think logically and see that vegetables and fruits do NOT hurt, but help. And about the imbalance - I'd emphasize again that this is only a temporary diet program. Nobody died eating pastries and cream during the holiday season for a week - although might have felt bad. Similarly, this diet isn't going to kill you or make you malnourished. Rather, does make you feel energetic if you care to look closely at what many say. The reason I'd believe it to be so is multi-fold - not just personal experience, or experiences of friends/family, but also that there's no commercial interest involved as well. Call this diet by any other name, but a cantaloupe will be a cantaloupe, and a potato will be a potato. Or for that matter, the vegetable soup and water...

i m 23year female,5ft 2.5in,69kgs. i have been trying to reduce ma weight since many months.i do reduce ma weight but the problem is i dont take care later so.. wel i wana know few things: does this diet along with weight reduces inches? as few people though after reducing weight does not lose much inches comparitive to weight. n how frequent is this diet advisable. i mean once in a month or how? n i m doing regular excercise(yoga n conditional excercise) since 2 months n lost more inches rather than weight. so is it advisable to carry on with this excercise along with this 1 week diet?

Hi.
I'd suggest you maintain a gap of about 1.5 months between two runs of this diet. You may exercise, but that depends entirely on your energy levels. I'd suggest avoiding any heavy exercise while on this diet.
As far as "inches reduction" is concerned - well, even though this diet's title emphasizes weight loss, I wouldn't really call this a purely weight loss diet. More of a re-energiser diet. Weight loss does happen, but I'm not expert enough to provide a definite answer on this part.

Hi Viji,

The bananas and milk are for potassium and sodium that the body loses. Not being a nutritionist, I'm not sure what good replacements should be. If someone else knows, please advise. If I can get information from experts, I'll update - but looks unlikely to happen very quickly!

You can substitute bananas with papaya or kiwi fruit. As for milk, tale skimmed milk- double toned- as medicine! the colder it is, the better so you wont get any taste, or even after-taste.
