  • What is the General Motors Diet?
  • Is this diet endorsed by General Motors?
  • Is this diet unhealthy?
  • Does this diet really help me lose weight?
  • Will I gain back any lost weight once I go off this diet?
  • Can I follow this diet for as many weeks as I wish?
  • Is the weight loss just water loss?
  • Is it enough to follow this diet to lose weight? Can I skip exercises?
  • Can/Should I have pulses instead of rice?
  • Can I add salt to my soup/vegetables/fruits?
  • Can I follow this diet if I suffer from <some disease/disorder>?

Lost 5 1/2 kg in 7 days

Guys,

this diet program rocks,

- It is very easy and doable.
- After 7 days you realize that there are most of the things that are not that necessary (tea etc.)
- You feel good as you become lighter day by day (and ofcourse look better).
- For ladies, some of your old cloths fits to you (that saves the poor husbands/boy friends from unncecessary shopping.)

Jokes apart, this program is really effective and you get the benefits of cleaning out the toxic waste from your body...

I want company??

I m on second day of GM diet.. i striving to go thru the day..how much ever i m eating veggies today..still i m hunger.... i had tried this before and have lost 3 kg :)... (though i cheated one day)

this time i m planning to follow strictly... is there anyone who can accompany me to go thru this and finish it off???

Can we have Multigrain pasta on the Rice day?

I had Multigrain pasta 2/3 cup for one meal on the 6th day. Is it okie if we substitute rice with other pulses?

What Vegetables to avoid?

What all vegetables should be avoided in this diet? Please give a list. Someone told me we cant have Cauliflower, carrot or peas... is it true? Please advice. Can we add any more vegtables to the soup?

I am eating them on my vegetable days and still I lost each time 6-7 lbs. I think its ok to add more vegetable with soup.

I am suffering from Constipation since last 25 Years.

CONSTIPATED

I HAVE BEEN HAVING A GREAT INTESTINES FUNCTION, THIS IS MY 5TH DAY ON THIS DIET, BUT I HAVE BEEN CONSTIPATED FOR 3 DAYS!!! ALSO MY G.F. WE STARTED IT TOGETHER.
WE WILL
FINISH IT AND ONCE WE ARE DONE, WILL LET YOU KNOW RESULTS.
MY G.F. IS SLIM AND HAS BEEN GAINING COUPLE OF POUNDS, SO SHE'S LITTLE DEPRESS. I LOST 5 PONDS ON FIRST 3 DAY, BUT GAINED ONE TODAY BUT ALSO LOST 1 INCH WAIST, WHICH I WAS SAME LAST 4 DAYS.

Can we have soup on all days or only on day4?

It is very confusing.Soup is mentioned only on day 4 (1 cup) and in the end where soup recepie is given.It says soup is a supplement and it can be taken anytime and in large quantities.

Hi,
yes soup can/should be taken on all days, there is no limit on the quantity. but i bet you wont be able to take more than 3 cups per day.
Its really filling n kills your hunger.

Is it compulsory to have soup all 7 days? as u have put "should" I am confused. I dont feel like i need...as I am eating sufficient fruits n veggies n liking it too.... Will not having soup affect my weight? Please suugest. is it okie If i have it only if I feel hungry and not able to stay motivated to continue dieting?

Shubha,
It is not compulsory to have soup all days. It was written as if you feel hungry then you can have soup. I am not taking the soup on any day, still I lot 6-7 lbs each time.

I hate tomatoes they make me gag! What can I eat instead on day 5?????

Can I eat tofu and beans?

Hi, today is my second day on the diet. I wonder if I can eat tofu and beans which contain some fat and proteins. I have difficulty drinking 10 tall glasses of water per day, but I am trying my best. I had half of a big steamed potato with salt this morning. I wonder if salt is completely forbidden in the diet.

But, this comment will still not answer any of the questions raised - yet. I am only posting right now to mention that I am currently not able to answer a lot of the questions due to a very hectic schedule, and hence lack of time. I will be hopefully able to respond to questions better in another 10 days time, when I should be back to a more relaxed daily routine.

Doubts doubts doubts….plz smeone help!!!

I hav started wid da GM diet n today is my 3rd day. I have doubts regarding the soup recipe. Do we just put all da ingridients in water n cook it, is it supposed to be like a veg clear soup with half cooked veggies or can it be fully cooked. Please somene clarify it by today.
Secondly can i replace beef wid mutton or if i cant den can i hav beef in ny form i like…fried burger or beef kebab grilled or ccoked wid vegies or beef shami or beef fry .
Thirdly is it ok if i dont exercise while on da diet prog, well atleast for these 3 days i couldnt. I might wen i take beef.

advice please

Hi, a friend of mine just told me about this diet and i decided i wanna try it. Im actually hypothyroid and gained a lot of weight before i was appropriately diagnosed. Im 5'4" and always weighed 64 kgs and looked great but since my weight gain i but on 10 kgs. my questions abt the program are
1. does vegetables include corn and black beans?
2. i cant have plain milk wihout anything in it. is it ok to add horlicks or anything like that in milk. and normally i drink 1% fat milk or skim milk. which is the recommended for the diet.
3. can i substitue chicken for beef?
4. can we have the soup everyday or just on certain dates?
5. the juice tat u mentioned is it ok if i drink tropicana or mintute maid? or should i drink fresh fruit juice without sugar?

do reply and let me know.. im sorry if it sounds like i have too many questions..thanks in advance

Mango has high calories and high fat cotent. avoid it.. Corn and any kind of beans have to be avoided too

Chicken/Fish OR Beef?

Hello..

I am about to start my day 1 tomorrow. I found two different versions of this diet. One stated on Day 5 you can consume small pieces of chicken or fish along with tomatoes. The other version stated to consume beef. Does it matter, can I do any of those 3?
Also.. I have always flucuated in weight between 120-125 lbs. Right now I am at about 130 lbs. I sometimes get headaches if I have not eaten in awhile. Is this diet still safe and ok for me to do? (I can eat the soup daily correct?) I am mainly doing it for the detox and to hopefully slim down to where I was before. I plan on exercising daily as well.

Please reply soon, I plan to start tomorrow.

i'm on day 5 today. the diets already working well. i am substituting beef with steamed fish for lunch & dinner.
on day 4 i had soup only for lunch & dinner..the rest of the day i had bananas & soy milk.
i too am looking at the diet for its detox value..and hoping the wt loss happens as a bonus! and yep, i've been to the gym every day.

substitute food popcorn/daal and tea issues.

hi i am on 4th day of my diet.I cannot compromise with my tea two times a day.I continuing it with the GM diet plan.Will it affect my weight loss target?
Moreover on day 4 today,i had milk with hot chocolate without sugar but dint have tea that day is it fine????As i cannot drink plain milk.

GM diet is more of detoxifying way to get rid of the toxins and unwanted nutrients in your body, There is a medical reason for planning the days as per the nutrients behave with your body. So it doesnt make sense to alter it for taste reason.

Of course you can eat/drink whatever you want in the diet, but then the weight loss would be compromised as suggested with this diet.

hi,
m getting married in the 1st week of march..
m around 5'4 and weigh around 60-64..
m a bit larger from the bust side and have a good ponge and love handles..ma hands and legs are thin or rather appropriate.
m thinking of going on this plan from tmrw..however m thinking of following this till last week of feb,is it ok to do so and also m a vegeretarian,but do have eggs,so how should me work on this..??can u suggest something that will make me lse weight around the stomach..??

Do this diet, it will help you feel much better apart from cleansing your system. But for getting definite results on losing weight around your belly, the best way is to do brisk walking every morning - atleast 3 kilometres a day.

Also, drink about 10-12 tall glasses of water every day. Best wishes!

The entire idea about having an ideal weight is that the body should function in an efficient manner, and have enough reserves of nutrients for itself. The body is an amazing machine - if you feed it more than it needs, it starts storing the extra 'energy' (as fats) for a rainy day - if it occurs, that is. But on the other hand, the body programs itself to permanently have that store if you make it habituated to storing. The programming happens over a long period. Which means that the de-programming also takes time. Weight loss diets are a quick way to lose some weight, but the de-programming happens only if you convince the body that the lesser food intake is actually suffcient, and exercises help a lot in this process.

In short, start following a good diet pattern (even after this diet is over), and also make sure that you exercise regularly. That will definitely help in the long run.

Hi, First u must use brown

Hi, First u must use brown rice instead of white rice because of more fibre content in it. u can biol them with some salt, drain the water... on fifth day u can make the gravy of tomatoes... add one small tea spoon of oil.add jeera. half onion ginger and sute it,and cut tomatoes and steam them with little water when it get soften add more water.and add little black salt and pepper.and add coriander. it sreally amazing with can have cut tomatoes as a salad..
6th day same boil the rice.. and saute the veggies together acc to ur preference.and mix them to make the pulao.and can make the chutney its very good chutney.. take a bunch of green coriander clean it,, In the grinder..add 2-3 cloves of garlic.add chopped coriander, half tomato, 1/2 green chilli. and grind them together.. and put in the bowl and salt acc to taste and squeeze one lemon..and mix it.. freeze it liitle and have it with pulao..
7th day it a very easy day ,, have one pineapple juice, the orange juice,, and in the afternoon.. papaya shake without sugar.. u will feel full all day..can have pulao or a soup as u wish.. remember to drink water upto 12-15 glasses.

pudina chutney

grind pudina corriender, garlic ,ginger, green chill.add saltn bit of water.gives taste to rice.or u can also boil palak,tomato,onion,garlic,ginger and grind into fine paste which u can cook in 1 tsp oil n add sm spices.
