End of Day Four
Posted 12/18/2009 - 23:20 by root
Day Four of the GM diet ends today. I've been following this diet again, along with a colleague from office.
Today was a much better day. Couldn't have more that 3 bananas today. Neither did hot steamy idlis for breakfast in office, nor did the yummy (as described by others) gol gappas in the evening being served (in office, again) tempt us! Amazing - just last evening, we had to try so hard to stop ourselves from having those tempting vada pavs and bhajias being served in office.
Trends - GM Diet poll
Posted 10/29/2009 - 07:26 by root
As of right now, for a poll running for more than 11 months now, 10 times more people find the GM Diet more useful than worthless! For someone to endorse anything, there must have been some positive experiences. For poll responses in the negative, until now, I haven't seen any posts/comments listing out why some people found this diet plan of not any use. I believe they have not experienced the GM diet (and hence, its effects) personally, and those reactions were just their gut feelings about this diet.
Gandhi on vegetarianism
Posted 11/17/2008 - 11:13 by jaju
Vegetarianism is simply another way of life - a lifestyle choice. Many people believe in it and feel strongly about it. Many do exactly the opposite. Being a vegetarian, one can predict what my views would be like.
Many a famous people are vegetarians by choice - with their own reasons for this style of living. Gandhiji was amongst one of the most influential people to have experimented with and commented on extensively on vegetarianism. So, before one passes any judgement on vegetarianism, it would be apt to read someone who has seen both sides and recorded experiences and views extensively.
Here are two more links I came across commenting on Gandhi's views

Weight loss diets?
Posted 11/17/2008 - 10:06 by jaju
It is a sign of our times that the term weight loss diets has acquired an almost super-star status! What does it really mean to you?
There's an entire universe of context behind this phrase. Overweight, unhealthy, lethargic, bloated, low self-esteemed existence of us modern-day humans evolving (devolving?) from our supposedly healthy, natural lifestyles in the African jungles!
Weight loss is a very inappropriate way of describing a solution for our unhealthy lifestyles. Weight gain is simply a manifestation of something deeper. Did I say what? Unhealthy lifestyles. That's again a very much loaded term, and the object of very many subjective views. So, let me not dwell on that in this very short blog post.
General Motors Weight Loss Diet (Vegetarian Variant)
The program was developed in conjunction with the grant from the US Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration. It was first tried at the Johns Hopkins Research Centre and was approved for distribution by the Board of Directors of General Motors Corporation at a general meeting on August 15, 1995.
General Motors Corporation wholly endorsed this program and is making it available to all employees and families. This program will be available at all General Motors Food service facilities.
It is the management’s intention to facilitate a welfare and fitness program for everyone.
